Guidelines for Submission:
· Designs may be patchwork, applique, embroidered, dyed, or painted. If paints or dyes are part of the design they must be specifically designated to be used on fabric. A design may use one or a combination of these elements. Designs must reflect and illustrate visually the Vision and Mission Statement. (Example: A group in Idaho is deciding between featuring indigenous people or Basque immigrants who have tended sheep for generations).
· The blocks will be 8½ “cut squares that includes the standard ¼” seam allowance around the outside edges. The design area will be 8” with all design elements to be contained with the 8” center of the square. Designs may not extend into the ¼” seam allowance.
· Design proposals must be submitted via email to cathedralquilt@gmail.com for approval. Proposals may be computer generated or hand drawn sketch. Please use a scan or photograph of your submission to include with your email. Deadline for submissions is January 15, 2025.
· Include a photograph of your past work in the medium(s) or methods you are planning to include in your finished block with your submission.
· All blocks will use or incorporate the same fabric selected to make the banner. The selected fabric is a 100% cotton square in a deep purple color that is cut to size and provided to participating individuals and/or groups. The squares will be mailed to participants when the design is accepted.
· After approval, completed blocks must be returned by April 30, 2025. The return address will be provided with the mailing of the background block.
